Original information provided by previous admin and retained for now...

The Liddesdale Study is a new project for Team Liddell et al, and is designed primarily to provide a less expensive testing option in non-USA lands for individuals interested in the Liddesdale-derived surname cluster. Special invitations are being sent to all non-USA residing members at present to take advantage of this new option in genealogy genetics testing.

ADDED: In May 2005, Team Liddell et al decided to automatically enroll all of its then-current test participants in both the present Study here and in the Team Liddell et al DNA/mtDNA Study in the National Geographic Society's "Origins of Mankind" Study since the goals of that five-year project and our goals are identical and also because the magazine has also selected FamilyTreeDNA as its testing service. (See the Genographics "section" on the Family Tree DNA homepage at this site for additional details on the Society's five-year project.) >>>> NOTE! The National Geographic Society's Study is now underway and Team Liddell et al is the WORLD'S FIRST genealogy/genetics group to enroll in that major study, and is also the first to enroll its female members in it.<<<<

ADDED JUNE 2005--Our first international test participant in the Liddesdale Study has received his lab results and found that he, an Australian, is closedly related to a group of R1b Liddells in North America who participate in our USA-only Liddell et al DNA/mtDNA Study (which see elsewhere at the FamilyTreeDNA website, also under Liddell and Little)--or, they to him, depending on the point of view. Genealogy charts are being exchanged with the Australian's line firmly anchored in Scotland and the North Americans trying to find their way to his ancestors. Just another triumph for our new, combined genealogy genetics Studies!
