New Koch surname project launched in Aug 2017. This project is focused on studying the YDNA profiles of males bearing the German surname Koch (sometimes aka and misspelled as Koke in the USA) and/or males with a soundex equivalent surname. While only males have a Y-Chromosome, the key DNA test for this project, females can join this project by sponsoring and being the point of contact for a related male Koch/Koke. This project is focused on the Germanic surname Koch/Koke family groups in the USA and Germany (and German speaking regions in Europe past or present) to determine if any of them share common male ancestor in Germany in the last 400-600 years, and if possible to find their respective home villages or regions in Germany.
