The primary goal of the Iowa Project is to help its members verify and extend their family trees.  It is very much encouraged that project members upload a gedcom or family tree to their  accounts and to fill in their ancestral surnames. This will help members determine their potential connections. 

To support the goals of the Iowa DNA Project, practical help will be offered to assist members in understanding their results and taking charge of their genetic and family history research.
