Goal

To discover, identify and appropriately group project members with the Guin, Guyn, Gwin and Gwyn surname including known or possible variants.  Some of these variant surnames may be likely of unrelated ancestry; however, they will be very useful in testing various origin theories.

By achieving this result, the ultimate goal is to identify specific origins of the fatherline descent of individual project members along ethnic or national lines and if possible down to regional and local levels.

Methodology

Combine traditional genealogical research with Y-DNA Short Tandem Repeat (STR) and Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) testing to:

a. Identify related and unrelated variations of the Project member surnames around the world.
b. Identify separate related lineages for proper grouping.
c. Identify geographical and chronological points of origin. 
d. Assist with genealogical research and synergize creative cooperation through information sharing and keeping engaged members informed. 
e. Identify possible clues in finding ancestral locations. 
f.  Assist all members with locating potential future matches.
