About us

The project is open to all FRON family members and all families affiliated within the ancestral branches. A completed (or in progress) Family Finder (FTDNA, or transferred), y-DNA, and mt-DNA necessary for membership. See comprehensive surname list. The Fron Family Affiliate Branches is also a repository for DNA of the Registered Fron One-Name Study with the Guild of One-Name Studies for the genealogy, etymology, geographical distribution, as well as the history and migration of the FRON surname and other variants and their descendants. You do NOT have to be from this line of FRONs to participate in the Fron One-Name Study. Fron surname descendants and researchers are welcome from around the globe. Project Goals: An all branch effort to unify the affiliated ancestral and descendant family branches in common through genetic testing. To identify the original names of the key branches (FRON) in common that have been historically altered due to political and wartime necessity and are unknown to all living descendants. To provide an avenue for all family members to more easily share information, research, and genetic data amongst each other and reduce redundant efforts. To further family genealogical research by confirming and disproving frail paper trails with scientific genetic evidence to support or refute existing data. To consolidate currently known genetic data and encourage advanced testing, with an emphasis on family elders. To further contribute to the scientific field of genetics where possible, as a cohesive family unit.
