1. Establish a paper trail to the parents of Thomas Williams.

2. Establish a paper trail to siblings and aunts/uncles (if they exist) of Thomas Williams.

3. Create descendancy charts for individuals identified in goal #2.

4. Locate and test living Williams men from the descendancy charts.

5. Use y-DNA results to confirm the paper trail.

6. Repeat process as needed until the first foreign born (as in not born in the geographic area now known as the United States) Williams ancestor is identified.
