The Haplogroup H&HV mtGenome Project: H14- Background

Background

This is the H14 Mitochondrial DNA Full Mitochondrial Sequence (mtGenome) Project. To join you must:

  • Belong to the H mtDNA Project.
  • Have Results from your Full Mitochondrial DNA Sequence (FMS) test at Family Tree DNA.
  • Have your HVR1, HVR2, and Coding Region results turned on.
  • To have your coding region on to view.

The coding region results can be used to identify your lowest level subclade and any close matches in the H & HV Projects, to estimate the age and origins of each subclade, and to identify new subclades in the H &HV Phylogeny tree.


If you make your coding region data visible to administrators your privacy is protected at all times. The coding region results are not shown on the project webpage and will not be made public, and by default they are also hidden from the project administrators.

 

To share your coding region results with the project administrators, you can:

  1. Log into your FTDNA account, click on "Manage Personal Information" under your profile.

  2. Go to the "Privacy & Sharing" tab.

  3. Make sure that "Who can view my mtDNA Coding Region mutations?" is set to "Project Administrators".

  4. When you click on "Project Administrators", make sure that "H14 mtGenome" is selected. You may optionally select other projects too.

  5. Go to the "Genealogy" tab.

  6. Add the information for your maternal ancestor - this is always a woman, if known. 

  7. Add the geographic coordinates for your maternal ancestor
