About us

About the test results - The markers that appear in RED font, are fast mutating markers. That means that they are the markers that are most likely to change over time. (Time being 8 to 10 generations) If there is "Most Common Recent Ancestor" - (MCRA) then all the markers will be the same with the exception on maybe one of these. For instance - Lets look at marker 439 and 458. If my 439 is an 11 and the others is 13 and my 458 is 19 and the others is 16 then we are most likely not related even if all the other markers line up. Now if all the markers line up with the exception of 439 and it is only off by one number, then it is most likely that we have an MCRA. If all the markers line up, then we have a 99.9% chance of being related by an MCRA.

Once we get a test result that matches or is only off by one number then we try and fit the pieces of the puzzle together. This is where we place the value of these tests. While I may have my family tree traced back to 1545 and another person only has theirs traced back to 1846 then we can start piecing it together at that point. This is a normal occurrence due to wars, politics and other events that have a tendency to separate family members.
