Genealogical DNA Research Group Started November 2014 by Christopher Souser.
Status: Actively recruiting any participants thought to be related to the Surname to take tests from each line.
If you are joining the project because you have one of these surnames, welcome!
If you believe you have any of these last surnames in your family tree / genealogy, please either have this in your FamilyTreeDNA family tree or contact the project administrator with detail of why you are joining the project. Acceptable reasons are that it is documented in your genealogy, a family story linking you to the name, or because you have a Match via one of the linking tools (on this website or another) to someone with one of these surnames, but we will want to explore that as some matches may not be related to the goals of this project. Those that join the project that do not help the administrators understand how you are or may be related may be removed by the administrator.
How can you help:
1) Have the test done through ftDNA or transfer your results from National Geographic Geno 2.0, Ancestry.com, , 23andMe, etc to ftDNA.
2) Donate to the general fund. These tests are expensive and several thousand dollars have already been spent. Every little bit helps.
Primary Goals as of November 2014.
1) Determine common ancestor(s), if they exist, for Souser-Sausser-Sauser-Säußer names in the United States (c. 1700-1900) and/or their European origin.
Note: As of November 2014 there are no less than 4-6 known lines originating in the Pennsylvania & New York areas during this period of time.
2) Link members of the Souser family.
3) Determine common ancestral traits and origins.
