About us

There are three major goals of the Sandifer Y-DNA Project:

Recruit individuals with Sandifer variant surnames, such as, Sanderfer, Sandefur, Sandiford, Sandiforthe, Sandiver, Sandavor, etc., from, various countries, specifically England, to test their Y-DNA in order to determine the area or location where our Sandifer variant surnames were established within a genealogical time frame and determine the migration patterns of these surnames. That is, were these surnames first seen in central England, or maybe the Devon area, or maybe some other area of Europe and where did they migrate to from there.

Determine our Deep Ancestry. Were we Anglo-Saxons that migrated from Sweden to central England, or Norse who migrated to Southern England or were we descendants of Norse from Normandy in France. At the moment we have markers within our DNA testing that show both Norse and Anglo-Saxon. We hope to determine which is the most valid and the migration route of those ancestors.

Discover commonalities in our genetic makeup, establish common genetic lines, and provide clues and hints to determine common ancestors between these genetic lines.
