The Ziegenfuss project began in order to see if the three main groups of "Ziegenfuss" really descended from the same male line. A researcher in the 1930's stated (Ziegenfuss Wiki page) that the Odenwald, Eichsfeld and North German "Z's" were all related.
All three of these lines have been tested and match closely in Y-DNA. We will continue on in our pursuit of trying to determine who the father is of the progenitor of the North German. The "North German" line of Ziegenfuss' came to America (New York) in 1885 on the ship Moravia. The father, Gottlieb Ziegenfuss, took his family to the Arlington, Texas area.
