FTDNA Whiting Project Update - January 16, 2024
The YDNA Results table was ungrouped last month when I became Project Admin. I have made an initial Group Scheme based on major haplogroup subclades. This shows genetic distances among haplotypes by colored mutations. The last group- "Ungrouped" is not initialized to show genetic mutations. While reviewing the table, this grouping plan allows anyone to see clustered testers with closely related haplotypes. I have left other surnames in the "ungrouped", they are not pertinent to the Whiting YDNA project.
1. I also have posted a "Become a Project Administrator" notice on the homepage. A helping hand from a Whiting researcher would be very welcome.
2. On the Background page- there is a partial statement about 3-4 immigrant Whitings to VA Colony- can someone please contact me about making a more complete narrative. We could also use any thumbnail narratives about Whiting origins and lineages.
3. Please keep your emails and contact information up-to-date. A growing problem is that as original DNA testers died- their tests become locked. Each project member should consider completing your Beneficiary Information and you can also select making Project Administrator a beneficiary to follow up on future testing. For long time users--- please note that FTDNA has activated a separate "Manager information page to be completed by facilitators, relatives, etc.
4. Next DNA Test Sale should be Valentine's Day Sales in a couple of weeks- START PLANNING TO GET those upgrades and add-ons- There are very few BigY700 tests for the Whiting etc surnames at this time.
5. I also activated the Donation Fund widget for this project- this is why FTDNA establishes groups so those who tested in other companies and made use of the free upload for atDNA raw-data. You can help this project progress by donating to the fund and we can fund additional testing.
Best wishes in 2024
