The main goal of the Whitehurst Surname project is to develop a deeper understanding of the heritage of the Whitehurst surname and it’s development over the last 1,000 years. The secondary goals include the following

1. To help members validate the traditional research they have done into their own Whitehurst heritage with scientific evidence.
2. To help members break down brick walls in their family tree research.
3. To organise the various branches of the family.
4. To determine if the surname has a primary root or a number of different origins.
5. To determine if seemingly unconnected Whitehurst families share a common ancestor.
