About us
The Whitehouse surname has appeared in the parish records of Tipton, Staffordshire, England since the records began in the 16th Century. The origin of all Whitehouse lineages, in England and the diaspora, is certainly centered around Tipton, in particular, and other parishes of the so called Black Country, in general. By the end of the 18th century, the name became so common in the Black Country that the limited information from parish records is insufficient to distinguish particular lineages from among the many. Individual families are often discernible, but their connectedness is not.
The goal of this project is to use Y-DNA to aide in parsing the Whitehouse lineages of Tipton, the Black Country, and the diaspora.
