About us
The WESTFALL surname is ultimately derived from that geographical area of western Germany that was known as Westphalia or "The Western Fields."
Others who have descended from the Westphalia region have been commonly surnamed also as Westphal or Westfahl.
However, most Americans who spell their last name WESTFALL are descended from just one immigrant - Juriaen Westfall - who came over from Holland in 1642.
He was probably born to parents who were from the Westphalia region.
There are exceptions. Some (very few) with the last name WESTFALL are descended from more recent German immigrants.
Also, there are a few lines that are not descendants of Juriaen, but an adopted son of a WESTFALL descendant who took the surname.
It's our goal to sort out these various lines of the WESTFALL surname.
We are also interested in identifying the true biological surname of those who descend from adoptees.
