Wash Y-DNA

About us

The three project goals are:
Goal #1: Obtain and post Y-DNA samples of persons with the surname of WASH (preferably using as a minimum a FTDNA Y-37 test, but ideally using a FTDNA Y-67 test) for persons living in North America, Europe and elsewhere. Also obtain and post Y-DNA samples of persons with other surnames who have a close genetic distance with those having a WASH surname (including more persons with the surname of LANDERS). [Note: a person can order a Y-37 test, and then if the find that they have a close Y-37 match with one or more persons, they can optionally then order an upgrade to the Y-67 test for a small additional cost. The upgrade test does not require submitting an additional sample].

Goal #2: Determine which person pairs having a WASH or LANDERS surname have small genetic distances with each other (using as a minimum a FTDNA Y-37 test, but ideally using a FTDNA Y-67 test) and then attempt to determine a Most Recent Common Ancestor (MRCA) for each pair.

Goal #3: Determine if the LANDERS paternal line is an offshoot of the WASH paternal line (or vice versa) and whether it was due to a name change, adoption, or other non-paternity reasons.
