About us

Searching for any male Warks worldwide. All variant spellings accepted. We are looking to determine whether there are multiple Wark lines and where they are from. How do you connect?
At least four lines of Wark families emigrated from Ireland to the Megantic County area of Canada during the years 1830 to 1850. There were more, of course, throughout Canada, during that time period.

The four family lines were:
David Wark (c1785-c1844) and Frances 'Fanny' Wark; Patrick Wark (c1782-c1852) and Jane (Finley) Wark; Patrick Wark (c1791-c1871) and Christiana Bruce; William Wark (c1778-1870) and Letitia Dever (c1791-1837). Letitia's burial record is in the Church of Ireland, Ballyshannon, Co Donegal.

Indications from their paper trail are that they came from the Behy Townland, near Ballyshannon in Co Donegal. It is likely that these four Wark families were related. By using YDNA we were able to determine that they were related.

All Wark male descendants are encouraged to submit their YDNA to help verify their descent and even to determine which line they might be connected to.
