03-16-15:  Kit 186321 (Family Finder test; identified as Kit 13257 with YDNA and mtDNA) joined the project.  This member is a close match to Kit 395426.  Interestingly, Kit 186321 has three other matches - one to a Wardloe descendant and two to Wardlow descendants.  Requests will be sent to the matches to join the project.  This may prove significant as we look for links with the Wardloe families.

03-04-15:  site has been updated to represent new test results

02-27-15:  Kit 395426 received results.  This confirms the relationship of the brothers John (1737-1791) and Hugh (1740-1802) in America.  The member also shares multiple matches with non-members showing Wardlaw as a surname.  Messages have been sent to such people.

01-01-15:  Kit 395426 joined the project - waiting for Family Finder test results.

12-11-14:  site updated - notice the strong match between Kit 81149 to Kit 214738.

11-28-14:  Kit 382300 joined the project - waiting for YDNA test results

11-22-14:  Kit 214738 joined the project - waiting on detailed lineage report, however new member does show a connection via Family Finder Test.

06-03-14:  Kit 336603 joined the project - this gives our first connection to the John Wardlow / Jemima Settle line, thus providing an important link!

05-26-14:  We have an important new member ... Kit N25055.  He is an apparent descendant of a Hugh Wardlaw (b. 1740) slave.  This gives us our first clue about such descendants and it will prove vitally important as we move forward.  Please note, the YDNA test results of Kit N25055 rule out the possibility of this line directly descended from Hugh Wardlaw himself.  However, it does give us valid information for other Wardlaw men descended from slaves.

05-01-14:  Kit 322684 joined the project - another member for Group C4 USA (Hugh Wardlaw b. 1740).  Thanks!

04-17-14:  Kit N93202 joined the project.

04-15-14:  site updated.

04-06-14:  Kit 328043 joined the project; further confirming relationships of American Wardlaws.  See Results page for more info.  Please note, Kit 328043 traces Wardlaw heritage back to two lines, Group C2 USA and Group C4 USA.

04-01-14:  Kit 56822 ordered the Family Finder Test.

03-08-14:  Welcome to the project Kit N94504 - lineage to Fife!

03-07-14:  Welcome Kit 237131; another member to Group C6 USA.

03-06-14:  Thank you to Kit 312031.  Your Family Finder test shows a clear connection to Kit 104096 and Kit 202563.

03-06-14:  Kit 296036 joined the project.  Thank you! This is an important match to Kit B6354 and places a lineage to Fife (Scotland).  There is, of course, the possibility that the two kits match via another family line or multiple family lines.  Either way, Kit 296036 and Kit B6354 match as distant cousins.  Additional research is necessary as I am waiting on additional Family Finder matches with Kit B6354 to join the project.

03-05-14:  Kit B6354 joined the project.  This is an interesting YDNA sample and provides us with our first connection to Scotland.  However, here is our issue I intend on resolving:  Kit B6354 is the son of an adoptee; his Wardlaw lineage is unclear AT THIS TIME.  Kit B6354 shows a YDNA37 match to a male Wardlaw.  After further review, Kit B6354 also shows several Family Finder matches to other Wardlaw descendants.  This is exciting!  I have contacted all matches to Kit B6354 with the hope of building a larger database – the more samples we have, the more answers we will have.  I will update the project when I receive additional feedback. Welcome Kit B6354 – you are so appreciated!

02-04-14:  Kit 284983 upgrade to YDNA37 received.  Further validates relationship to other American Wardlaws.

09-30-13:  site updated to include new matches, etc …

09-28-13:  Kit 191028 joined the project.  Thank you!

09-27-13:  site updated with new match results.

09-26-13:  Kit 202563 joined the project.  Welcome!

09-21-13:  Family Finder test results in for Kit 163465.

08-14-13:  Site updated to include recent members.

08-06-13:  Kit 163465 ordered the Family Finder test.  Results expected 09-23-13.

08-03-13:  Kit 158914 and Kit 163465 joined the project.  Welcome!  Their lineage is to Group C2 USA (John Wardlaw b. 1737).

05-09-13:  The Website has been updated.  YDNA Kit 284983 shows a clear genetic connection to the other Wardlaw men.  The results prove William Wardlaw (1745-1819) was a child of William Wardlaw (1700-1762) and grandson of Immigrant Robert Wardlaw.  It also reiterates the connection between American Wardlaws and Wardlaws in other countries.  It would be nice to have descendants of James Wardlaw (C1; b. 1735), Joseph Wardlaw (C5; b. 1742), and Margaret Wardlaw (C7;b. 1750) participate in the project.  It would be really nice to test some Wardlaws in Scotland!

05-08-13:  YDNA Kit 284983 joined the project.  Clear match to other YDNA participants.

12-04-12: Family Finder results received for Kit 81149.

10-11-12: site updated.  Lineage for Kit 237737 and Kit 81149 added.  Waiting for analysis of Kit81149’s Family Finder test.

10-07-12:  YDNA Kit 237737 joined the project.  It is another test result clearly matching the other YDNA results from Immigrant Robert Wardlaw (A1).  YDNA Kit 237737 has been placed in Group C2 USA (John Wardlaw b. 1737).

10-04-12:  Kit 81149 ordered the Family Finder Test a few days ago and it was already batched yesterday.  Results should be in soon.

09-18-12:  Happy to report another person has joined our group.  See mtDNA results for Kit 81149.  Waiting on report of her Wardlaw line before grouping.

09-01-12:  YDNA Kit 249989 received results for the first 12 markers … and there is a clear genetic connection to other YDNA test participants.  YDNA Kit 249989 traces his Wardlaw family to Ireland, with no family records indicating American immigration.  This is an important DNA connection as YDNA Kit 249989 matches descendants of American Immigrant Robert Wardlaw A1 (Kits 56822,199895, and 248915).  More time will be required to interpret the results.

08-23-12:  YDNA Kit 56822 joined the group.  This helps the Wardlaw DNA Project in a big way.  Kit 56822 descends from the Robert Wardlaw (b. 1748) line (aka Group C6).  This confirms the relationship between American Wardlaws and Wardlows.  It also confirms the relationship of John Wardlaw (b. 1737), Hugh Wardlaw (b.1740), and Robert Wardlaw (b. 1748).  Clearly, these three descend from William Wardlaw (b. 1700; identified as ancestor B1) and Immigrant Robert Wardlaw (identified as ancestor A1).  Further research may be necessary to isolate the time period when the Wardlaw name changed to Wardlow.  Until then, the “Results” page on the Wardlaw DNA Project is based on Joseph G. Wardlaw’s research in “Genealogy of the Wardlaw Family” and others.  We still require other Wardlaw/Wardlow descendants to test and look forward to the results of Kit 249989.  Conclusion:  Kit 56822, Kit 199895, and Kit 248915 show clear connections to Immigrant Robert Wardlaw.

08-21-12:  test results for Kit 248915 clearly match Kit 199895.  Relationship between John Wardlaw (1737-1791) and Hugh Wardlaw (1740-1802) confirmed.

08-03-12:  YDNA Kit 249989 has been received for testing with FTDNA.

07-24-12:  YDNA Kit 248915 has been received for testing with FTDNA.
