About us
This is the FTDNA project webpage for the WALTERS Surname (Y-DNA) project.
The WALTERS surname appears to have disparate roots in a number of European countries, primarily Germany; the United Kingdom; and Ireland. The project includes all variants of the name WALTERS, including: WALTER, WALTHER, WALDER, WALDAR, WALTOR, WAELTER, WAELTHER, WELTHER, VALTHER, VALTER, WALLDAR, WOLTER, WOLTERS, WALTTER, WELTER, and other reasonable spelling variations; all are welcome to join the project.
Only males have Y-chromosomes, so only male WALTERS/etc. can participate. If you are female, you can have a male WALTERS/etc. relative submit a sample for your line. To participate meaningfully, testees will need to share their direct male line ancestry back to the earliest known WALTERS/etc., in the form of a pedigree (excluding living persons).
