About us

The W(h)itt Surname Project encompasses three family DNA studies:

(1) The Witt-Whitt family of Old Virginia DNA study: the objective is to identify the descendants of John Witt, William Witt, Edward Whitt, and Richard Whitt (the sons of John Witt-Whitt). John Witt-Whitt emigrated from London, England circa 1666 and lived in Charles City County, Virginia from 1670 to after 1695.

(2) The Witt/Wilt/Wild DNA study: the objective is to identify the descendants of the German emigrants, Johann Valentine Wild (1679-1755) who came to Pennsylvania and his nephew Johann Adam Wild (1681-after 1752) who came to South Carolina and their family connections in Ziegelhausen, Germany.

(3) The Whitt DNA study: the objective is to identify the ancestors and descendants of David Whitt, Giles County, Tennessee 1840. We are actively looking for a volunteer administrator to take over the project who would enjoy working on this project. If you are interested, please contact the admin
