The Van Schouw Y-DNA project studies the patrilineal (male-line) genealogy of the descendants of Claes Cornelissen Van Schouw, who immigrated to New Netherland before 1640. His male-line descendants are known to have or had the surnames Claesen/Clawson, Gerbants/Garrabrant and Pieterse/Peterson.
