The goal of the Ulmer DNA study is to compare DNA results with written documentation on the family from the 1500s forward. The study is open to all male Ulmers with roots in the U.S., France, Germany, Russia, and other parts of the world. A woman with Ulmer as a maiden name must have her brother, father, uncle, or other male Ulmer relative participate. Her son does not qualify, as a mother does not pass the Y-chromosome DNA we are studying to her son.
