About us

The goal of the Twersky Chassidic Y-DNA Project is to identify the characteristic haplotype and haplogroup or Y-DNA genetic signature of the Twersky Chassidic dynasty of Chernobyl by testing pedigreed patrilineal descendants of the lineage. This Y-DNA genetic signature may then be utilized to identify previously unknown descendants of the Twersky Chassidic dynasty who may not have well-documented paper trails. The project is open to known descendants of Rabbi Menachem Nachum Twersky of Chernobyl (1730 - 1787), and their genetic matches, who are interested in exploring their common heritage through sharing of Y-DNA test results and genealogical information.
