It is believed that all Tichenors in the US descend from Martin Tichenor who took the oath of allegiance at New Haven in 1644. Similarly, it is believed that the family derives its name from the area through which the river Itchen flows in the south of England. The growth of this project will allow his paternal line descendants named Tichenor to confirm that and to find the ancient routes of travel taken by their paternal line ancestor, all the way back to Africa 50,000 years ago.
