Samuel Thompson and his wife, Nannie Ballinger/Ballenger were the parents of Daniel (1755-1834), James (1763-1827), Edward (1765 -?), Samuel Jr. (1768 - ?) and John (1770-?). Through DNA, it has been discovered that Ellzey Thompson (1795-1865) was also part of the Samuel Thompson family. While most researchers have Samuel's data as born 1705 and died 1782, research in the last two years has shown him to have lived until 1804, which raises a question on his birth date. This project seeks to present the evidence on the issues surrounding Samuel and his descendants. The second part is to resolve the centuries old mystery of the parentage of Samuel Thompson and Nannie Ballinger/Ballenger. The Goals of this project are to answer these questions a. Who are Samuel & Nannie's ancestors? b. Which one of Samuel and Nannie's son was Ellzey's father? c. Why and how did the allied families become allied - by using cluster research d. DNA research
