The goals are to assemble in a public place a grouped and sorted representation of Scheurer ancestral DNA and associated surname variations for genetic genealogy purposes.

This project is for all male Scheurer descendants. There are many name variations with the oldest and original spelling of the name being Scheurer. Common variations are Shirer, Shirar, Sheirer, Shirey, Shearer, Scherry, Sherry, Shirah and others. The name shows up in many records with many variations some which are shared with unrelated lines. We must remind you that surnames were not always used and many, including the Scheurer surname, are occupational or trade surnames. From the time they became fashionable or necessary, two people in the same village or area with the same name may not be related. Since this period in history cannot be researched through normal genealogical methods, the DNA testing is the only way to tell if someone is related.
