The Mir name is a title and surname that is very common within Kashmir and Jammu, the title was used by Turks who had a high standing within armies, the surname was was used by many of the followers of Mir Syed Ali Hamdani from Iran to Kashmir in the 14th century. In 1911 the consensus of Jammu and Kashmir had 17,000 with the Mir surname and title put under Mughal, this group project was created with the goal to help Mir's find which group of migrants they descend from.
