About us

My adopted name is Douglas W. Fisher, DOB 9/22/1958, and I started my search to find family about 2004, and later in 2009 began dna testing by doing ydna testing with FTDNA. I have been successful in confirming my paternal surname to be "Wells", and thanks to Orin Wells(Wells Family DNA project), I have been placed into the W013 modal group. Since 2009, I have confirmed my birth parents, and my paternal & maternal lines, work still in progress. I have tested up to 111 ydna markers & Big Y testing. Thanks again to Orin Wells, who invited David Wells(Berkshire, England) to test ydna, which resulted in a 108/111 match between us. At this point, I enlisted assistance from my 8th cousin Richard Wells, PHD, and we collaborated with David Wells confirming our common ancestor, John Wells, b.c 1492 Little Haywood, Staffordshire, England. Our common ancestor John Wells,.b.c.1492  had several sons; Thomas Wells, b.c 1524; paternal line branch of David Wells, and John Wells, b.c. 1538; paternal line branch of Richard Wells, Quinton Wells & myself. David Wells terminal snp is R-S7019(Big Y), in which myself, Richard Wells & Quinton Wells also tested positive for in our Big Y testing. We know that our common ancestor John Wells, b.c. 1492 carried the snp R-S7019, so the age of the snp is 1492 or before. David Wells tested negative for R-BY17958, and myself, Richard & Quinton tested positive for this snp. We can conclude from these test results & genealogy the following; 1) Richard & Quinton Wells share common ancestry with myself up to Henry Wells, b. 1672 Bradfield, Berkshire, England d. 1714 Bucks Co. PA; then Henry's son Joseph Wells, b.abt 1693 continues my paternal line and Henry's son William Wells, b.abt 1698 continued the paternal lines of Richard & Quinton. 2)William Wells had a son Peter Wells, Sr, 1725-1787 and Peter had a son Peter Wells, Jr, 1759-1840, and Peter's son Matthew continued Richard's paternal line, and Peter's son Isaac continued Quinton's line. 3)Since Richard, Quinton & myself share common ancestry up to Henry Wells, 1672-1714; then we know that the age of R-BY17958 was between 1538(year of birth John Wells) and 1672(year of birth of Henry Wells) in one of two locations, Little Haywood, Staffordshire, England or Bradfield, Berkshire, England. There were five generations between John Wells, b. 1538 & Henry Wells, b. 1672, and four out of five generations were born in Bradfield, Berkshire area so most likely Bradfield, Berkshire, England was the location where R-BY17958 mutated; but it could have occurred with John Wells, b. 1538 at Little Haywood, Staffordshire, England.
