About us

Hello to all project members. I am Philip Stead, the new project administrator! My link to the surname is via my paternal grandmother Elizabeth Stead (Nee Storrie). We trace our Storrie lineage to East Lothian, Scotland with family traditions of having links to the Isle of Skye. I have tested my great uncle William Storrie (grandmother's younger brother) extensively. M Storrie lineage belong to the Swedish cluster Z2396 which is under Z18. According to the admin of the Z18 yDNA project, my Storrie lineage has a very Scandinavian looking STR pattern and we have a Danish yDNA match.

At first glance, there are other candidates for Scandinavian origins within the project; those testing I-M253 and R-U106, however, this is early stages and further analysis and testing will provide better conclusions in the future.

There are also members who are clearly R1b-L21 which is considered a marker for more ancient origins within the British Isles, most likely arriving during the Bronze Age with the Bell Beaker folk.

The R1b-U152 is also an interesting haplogroup which several members share. This is regarded as Italo-Celtic in origin and could have arrived to the Isles during the Bronze Age like the L21 folk or it could be later via the Romans. This is just my first thought and further research is required.

I hope that the new Activity feed will be used to ask questions and discuss results and research. I am also available via e-mail for those that wish to discuss anything in private. I really hope to get this project u and running properly as it has not been very active since I joined several years ago with my great uncle's kit.
