Welcome to the Sowinski family Y-DNA project. This project traces its roots to 2002 when two Purdue faculty members, one with the surname Sowinski and the other Sovinski, wondered about the possibility of being distantly related. Using traditional genealogical methods, an attempt was made to link these branches long established in different regions of the U.S.A. That attempt produced compelling evidence but did not yield definitive proof of a relationship. The irrefutable proof of the YDNA match reunited two branches of the family tree whose relationship had been completely unkown to one another for generations.
