About us

Illinois has a rich history, first as a county that stretched from Louisiana to Canada and has been claimed by the French, Spanish, British, and the United States and a history of settlement from many nations.  This project is looking at the families who lived in the southern half of Illinois in the early 1700's to present.  These families intermarried and moved on to other areas to populate the state.

If you have a family member that was born in Southern Illinois, or had children who were born in Southern Illinois please join. Please send me an email with your ancestors name and County of birth.

Membership requirements:

FTDNA,
yDNA, and mtDNA tested men and women who meet the above conditions. To join simply click the Join Request tab to be linked to FTDNA.  There is no charge.

Members will be strongly urged to provide their country of origin on their FTDNA account and to add at least five generations of their family tree.  ALL the email addresses listed on a FTDNA member's record will be considered members of the project.  Failure to provide this information in a reasonable length of time may result in removal from the project.

Transfers MUST at least have FtDNA test results on order.

ALL MEMBERS ARE ADVISED TO CONSIDER PRIVACY ISSUES WITHIN AN EVOLVING HAPLOGROUP PROJECT.  WHILE THE PROJECT ADMINISTRATOR ATTEMPTS TO PROTECT YOUR PRIVACY, THOSE WHO FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE SHOULD DROP OUT OF THE PROJECT.
