About us
Siol Alpin (from Gaelic, Sìol Ailpein: Seed of Alpin) is a family of seven Scottish Clans which traditionally trace their descent from Alpin, father of Cináed mac Ailpín, (Kenneth MacAlpin) King of the Picts, of whom the Scots tradition considered the first King of Scots.
The seven Clans that make up Siol Alpin are: Clan Gregor, Clan MacAulay, Clan Macfie, Clan Mackinnon, Clan Macnab, and Clan MacQuarrie, Clan Grant,
This project is to investigate if there are indeed genetical links between these 7 families.
Also to see if any other Clans are connected and to determine the possible origin of these peoples - are they Dalriadic or Pictish
