Here's the latest on the genetic genealogy used in this group. There are so far at least two distinctive Simpkins/Simkins familylines. One of the primary purposes of this Simpkins Family Y-DNA project is to help us all to and identify other Simpkins who are or may be related. Members should encourage their same surname friends or cousins to get the 12 marker test. (For a limited time the group will give a funded scholarship for the initial 12 marker test.) *****Alert this initial 12 marker test is no longer available....TO BE PAID BY THE GROUP. Remember Genetic Genealogy is a newly developing scientific tool to assist in breaking through the "Brick Walls" often encountered in document based genealogy research. This tool will give you a direction to look. By itself genetic genealogy doesn't prove or disprove anything. Indeed,the genealogical data will need interpretation:he DNA markers may go back to the earliest documented ancestor on that family line. And of course you'll match with genetic cousins with a different surname,because the DNA pre-dates given surnames. (A word of caution is needed...as you will still need the documentary evidence as to why your surname may be different from the Main "Simpkins" surname.
