This project was started in March 2009 in an effort to try and break down the brick walls that exist when trying to get beyond the early SHIVER immigrant families in SC. This family spread throughout SC, GA, AL, and FL. There is some speculation that the SHIVER and SHIVERS families are related, and this project is going to be looking at that possibility. Also, there are SHIVER families in and around PA and NJ from early in the history of America, and it is wondered if there might be a relationship there as well. Hopefully, the results of this project will give researchers of these families a specific focus for further genealogical research.

This project is open to any male direct descendant that carries the surname SHIVER or SHIVERS. While a 12-marker test will tell us at least if the lines are related, more markers are desired in the hope that a more accurate date to nearest common ancestor can be determined.
