"SHEKELL" is an uncommon surname even when various spellings, e.g., Shekles, Shekelle, Sheckels, and Sheckell, are included. Some persons can trace their lineage to Thomas Shekell and Mary Budd, who were married in 1702 at St. James Parish Church in Anne Arundel, MD. Thomas may have emigrated from England since he was a member of the Anglican Church and a Shekell family has lived in Pebworth, England, since at least 1510.
