This site is designed to explore the relationships between the several immigrant family lines in the US. Descendants of Alexander Shapleigh, Nicholas Shapley, David Shapley and William Shap(p)ley are encouraged to participate, as are Shapleys descended from Devonshiremen who did not emigrate. Early results reveal the R1b haplotype and descendants of Alexander and David separated by a genetic distance of 1 on the Y_DNA 12 marker string. More information is needed to determine when this separation is likely to have occurred: it is on a fast-moving marker.
