During my trip to Ireland in September of 2006, I received DNA from 6 SHANAHAN men. Four from the parish of Abbeydorney in County Kerry, one from the Parish of Lixnaw in County Kerry and one from Cashel in County Tipperary. Back in the states, Shanahan men from Nebraska, Indiana and Michigan have joined the project. These men believe that their ancestors were from County Kerry, County Cork and/or County Tipperary. December 2006; I found that one of the Shanahan men from Indiana within this project had an exact match with a 37 marker to a SHANNON man. He had never thought about researching the SHANNON family until now.
