About us

The Seeley Genealogical Society's original Y-DNA Project was to prove the lineage of Robert Seeley and Obadiah Seeley. The Y-DNA tests results showed Obadiah was not the son of Robert, which had been previously claimed. You can find further details on this research on the SGS Website under the Research Tab. SGS wants to continue to collect Y-DNA from males with the Seeley surname, regardless of spelling, to be able to track their lineage, and to find all descendants. In addition, SGS is now expanding the project to include all DNA tests. We would like males, with the Seeley surname of any spelling, to continue doing the Y-DNA, but will also accept their autosomal tests, which can be uploaded from another site. Our objective of including the autosomal and mitrochondrial tests is to enhace our previous research, to help eliminate the brick walls we have encountered when trying to get the correct ancestor into the correct family and to begin finding our female Seeley descendants. We also welcome members of other Seeley lines (of all spellings).
