Sayce, Say etc are found down the English side of the border with Wales (and far West in Pembrokeshire), and may possibly derive from SAIS, a Welsh word for a Saxon, or Englishman. However the name could adopt a 'singular' form, SAY of SEY, and this is the same as the Norman/English name from the place Sei in Normandy.
