About us
The project seeks to:
Gather samples from each household/nuclear family identified in Griffith’s Valuation, and also those recorded in the early censuses of Britain, America, and elsewhere, in order to establish the distance of relatedness among the various branches of the family, and thereby the estimated floruit of their most recent common ancestor.
Trace the migration of individual branches of the family throughout the West Riding of county Cork and those who emigrated overseas.
Identify the family’s wider – tribal – affiliation: the region of Ireland in which the family resided having been, during the early modern period, largely associated with descendants of the Corcu Loigde and the Eoghanacht.
