About us

Updated 20 Nov 2022 To help find family connections for the RUDDs of all spelling and variations. By joining the group you agree to provide the project with 3 things. 1) The surname of the person being tested. 2) The name, date and place of birth of the oldest researched male ancestor of your male patrilineal line and the oldest researched female ancestor of your matrilineal line. 3) Permission to publish the DNA results and the names, dates and places of birth of the oldest known patrilineal or matrilineal ancestor. The Rudd family of my interest lived in Halifax Co., NC prior to 1800, prior to moving to possibly Hardin Co. or Davidson Co., TN. Rudd families are listed in the 1830 and 1840 census Gallatin Co., IL. In 1836 they purchase land and by 1841 are selling the land. By 1846 they have have moved to Lee Co., IA where descendants live today. Along their route from NC through TN, IL and to IA they likely have left branches of the family. One branch went to Posey Co., IN. This family is reported as malotto, free colored and white. All males with the Rudd surname are invited and encouraged to participate in this effort. The more participating, the greater the chance of finding a cousin. I recommend getting at least a 67 marker test initially, if not a 111 marker test. The results will be your personal results and I am sure that you will not be satisfied until you know as much as possible.
