What do you mean by "family contingent", "contingent", "family segment", etc?
As used in this Surname Project, a family contingent (or family segment) is a group of related individuals with a Riehle or related surname that have common ancestors within an ancestral male lineage, as determined by genealogical evidence and/or Y-haplogroup matching.
What surnames are covered by this project?
See "Surnames" on the project menu to the left. Upon a suggestion from a member or perspective member we will consider expanding this list to include any names similar to these which might come from a common root and which are associated with Germanic ancestry. For Irish/British derivations of the surname "Riley" please consider the Riley Surname Project.
