The Rice Y-DNA project is open to men with the Rice surname or anything similar, as well as to men who believe they descend from Rices via their male line. We accept results from any lab with reporting protocols that comply with, or can be converted to, the international standards. Visit our project web site at edmund-rice.org/haplotype.htm. We show there (anonymously) the DNA results for our participants, grouped by lineage, as well as notes about the genealogical significance of the DNA findings. The Edmund Rice Association uses the help of DNA to sort out various Rice families in the world and in particular to see if there are connections between apparently different Rice groups. Origins are primarily in England, Wales, Ireland, and Germany.
