About us
2016 -- June 4
Per a request, the Rymsza surname has been removed from the surname list. It was originally included because some descendants eventually switched the name to Renshaw. It is a Lithuanian/Polish surname, from which some family members also became Rymshaw, Rimshaw, and Rimschaw. The Lithuanian spellings are Rimsa, Rimsai and Rimsas. The Polish spelling is Rymsza. The Rymsza families from Poland settled in Luzerne County, PA and Massachusetts. Because of the changing borders of Lithuania and Poland, there is confusion on where they came from originally. Rymsza is the spelling of the older Lithuanian spellings. For more information on those surnames, please go to one of the following Facebook pages:

The following message was posted to RENSHAW-L by Pat LaBrot.
Dear RenshawList,
For those of you who may not have heard, we lost a dear friend and long time Renshaw researcher this week. Gwen Renshaw Maurer passed away unexpectedly Monday evening (May 9, 2016). Many of you have known Gwen for years,and/or have benefited from her knowledge and generosity of sharing information. The Renshaw list was originally started in 1999, and Gwen was not only instrumental in keeping it active, but made frequent posts over the years in an effort to, not only seek new information, but to help others researching their Renshaw ancestors. Needless to say, those of us who knew her personally and worked with her, as well as those whose lives were touched by her work, will remember her as a sweet soul, who was meticulous in and dedicated to her research. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family. With deepest respect to our colleague and friend, Pat LaBrot
