About us

Peter Rementer emigrates to the Philadelphia area and is found in public records by 1762 when he contributes three pounds to St. Joseph/St. Mary Church fund to establish a free school for children of members of the parish. John Hunneker, father of Sarah and Catherine, two of Peter's daughters-in-law, also contributed three pounds.
He is likely of German descent although Alsace-Lorraine is often mentioned. He is a Revolutionary War Patriot ( established by the D.A.R.) serving in the Militia and a member of Old St. Joseph's RC church.

He marries Mary Magdalene Mayer in Holy Trinity in 1772. He had 5 sons and many grandsons and great grandsons. He and his sons and daughters marry into German families in the PA area such as Mayer/Meyer,Hunneker,Heiney,Norbeck,Lewis,Schutts,Lynch.

We know little about his antecedents.Did he have brothers and cousins?Where did his family of origin come from?

With DNA testing we hope to track this family back into Europe and possibly to find other immigrants from his immediate family.
