About us

One of the original goals of the Radcliffe Surname Project was to determine whether the Radcliffes originate from a few or many lineages. After years of gathering data, it is clear that multiple founding ancestors exist across different branches of the evolutionary (haplo) tree. Some previously unknown Radcliffe lines have been discovered, offering new opportunities for genealogical research. Testing so far indicates that earlier Radcliffe ancestry is rooted in northern England. We are also interested in how DNA-derived lineages align with published historical material, such as The Book of The Radclyffes

published by CP Hampson in 1940. Our goals have evolved, and we are now seeking living relatives to be tested who can help fill gaps in our heredity and record-based family trees.
