The goal of the Rappaport-Cohen Y-DNA Project is to identify the characteristic haplotype and haplogroup or Y-DNA genetic signature of the Rappaport-Cohen rabbinical lineage by testing pedigreed patrilineal descendants of the lineage. This Y-DNA genetic signature may then be utilized to identify previously unknown descendants of the Rappaport-Cohen lineage who may not have well-documented paper trails. The project is open to both patrilineal descendants of the Rappaport-Cohen rabbinical lineage, and their genetic matches, who are interested in exploring their common heritage through sharing of Y-DNA test results and genealogical information.
