Background There are variations of this name but this project seeks to find commonality. The name is most prevalent in Germany, but is also widely existent in France and the United States. Goals Traditional research has shown some commonality in Rabe and Rave. This project will show commonality in variations of the family name using DNA. Some research has shown the name Rave going back to 1222 in Germany. A subgroup for Rabb has been added to support study of the 4 Rabb men in South Carolina in colonial times.
