About us
Patrick MacAllister created the R-FGC28985 project in December 2024 after six years of studying the haplogroup with collaboration of other testers and their kit managers. As surnames were not adopted until much later in the United Kingdom, the testers do not fit under a single Surname project and are not part of a chiefly clan line. Although some enthusiasts claim that R-S764 and it's subordinate lines could descend from the Dal Riata Kingdom Kings of old, it is more likely that they were from a family that was local to the Argyll area. R-BY3148, R-Y16252, and R-Z17611 all under R-S764 do claim chiefly lines under the Clan McPherson/Clan MacLea/Livingston, Clan MacLaren, and Clan MacRae which does add some credence to a family of prominence but the origin of R-FGC28985 remains a mystery. This project hopes to better understand these distant relations.
