Welcome to the Puerto Rican Sefarad DNA Project! A kit # is required for this project and please make sure you have tests results and that your haplogroup is one of the targeted in this project. If you are from the haplo R1b1 or R1a1 make sure you have an autosomal test done. Thanks! In this geographical project, it is hoped that the application of genetic genealogy will give us insight on the genetic and historical connections among various possible families in Puerto Rico sharing similar haplogroups. These connections originated in Medieval Spain, Portugal, Azores Islands, Canary Islands, Mallorca, and the Mediterranean. Family connections continued from the Spanish colonization of Puerto Rico to the modern recent times.
